Supervisory Board of MTU Aero Engines AG decides to streamline management structure

• Commercial Maintenance and Program Business (OEM) to be integrated more closely
• Dr. Stefan Weingartner will leave the company on his own request

Munich, December 12, 2014 – Dr. Stefan Weingartner (53), Member of the Executive Board of MTU Aero Engines AG and President MTU Maintenance, will leave the company on his own request in order to take on a new professional challenge. Against this background, the Supervisory Board of MTU Aero Engines AG has decided in its meeting today to reduce the Management Board to three Members. The tasks of Weingartner – who will accompany and support the change process – will be transferred to the other Board functions. The responsibility for the locations of MTU Maintenance will be combined in the leadership of Dr. Rainer Martens (53) as Chief Operating Officer. Sales and Marketing of MTU Maintenance will be integrated in the Board function of Programs headed by Michael Schreyoegg (48). The new structure will become effective at the beginning of 2015.

The aim of the new structure is to streamline the organization and to guarantee a stronger integration of Commercial Maintenance and Program Business (OEM). Across the industry, both areas grow together ever closer, because customers tend to increasingly include long-term service contracts already at the time of engine acquisitions. In its cooperation with OEM partners, MTU adjusts to this change, which should lead to a closer integration of its business segments.

Weingartner will leave the company on March 31, 2015. The Supervisory Board of MTU Aero Engines AG regrets Weingartner’s departure explicitly and expresses its thanks for almost eight years of successful activity in the company’s Board of Management. In his responsibility since 2007, he has successfully developed MTU Maintenance’s market position and strengthened the German and international locations, the Supervisory Board stated.
