JT8D-200
JT8D-200
The JT8D-200 is a series of Pratt & Whitney's JT8D family and, with more than 14,750 units sold, one of the world's best-selling jet engine families. This series is used in the Boeing MD-80 aircraft family. Since entering service, the entire JT8D family has logged more than 673 million flight hours. Today, 2,400 engines are still in service with more than 350 operators. E-Kit, a new combustion system, has reduced the JT8D-200's nitrogen oxide emissions by 25 percent, ensuring that current environmental regulations are met and that the series can continue to be operated.
MTU has been a risk-and-revenue sharing partner in this Pratt & Whitney engine program since 1984 and holds a 12.5-percent share. The company is responsible for the manufacture of individual parts of various assemblies.
