MTU Maintenance strengthens aftermarket position in the wide body segment
• MTU Maintenance Hannover ready to test GE90-110B/115B
Hanover, Germany, 1st February 2013 – The GE90, the world’s largest and most powerful commercial aircraft engine will be playing an increasingly important role in the global MRO market. According to research, shop visits for this engine type are going to grow by 13 percent annually until 2020. MTU Maintenance, the world’s largest independent provider of engine maintenance services, will benefit from this development and will significantly strengthen its aftermarket position on the wide body segment. “We are very confident that we will increase our GE90 market share in the near future,” said Dr. Stefan Weingartner, President and CEO Commercial Maintenance at MTU Aero Engines. “According to our forecast, we expect around 2,000 GE90 engines in operation by 2020. This is a promising development, and we consider this a great opportunity to participate in this market with a noticeable share for MTU Maintenance.”
As a sign of its efforts, MTU Maintenance Hannover, the centerpiece of the MTU Maintenance group and specialist for medium-sized and large commercial aircraft engines, has successfully completed the GE90 test cell correlation. As of today, the engine can also be tested and certified in Hannover. “We are very proud of this milestone,” said Holger Sindemann, Managing Director at MTU Maintenance Hannover. “Our location is one of the few maintenance providers worldwide licensed for full repair capability of the GE90-110B and -115B. As this now also includes the testing of the engine, we are able to offer our customers additional benefits, one of them being significantly reduced turnaround times.”
MTU Maintenance also offers its customers the benefit of providing them with a number of additional services. Among these are on-wing services as well as technical and logistical support including LRU-support. In addition, MTU Maintenance is the only independent provider worldwide with a spare engine pool for the GE90.
