• Repair services for the world's largest jet engine round off the shop's maintenance offerings

Hannover, Germany, July 26, 2010 – MTU Maintenance Hannover has expanded its repair capabilities by including GE’s GE90-110B and -115B engines in its portfolio. Dr. Stefan Weingartner, President and CEO Commercial Maintenance at MTU Aero Engines, said: "With the addition of these propulsion systems for wide-body aircraft, which are sold successfully across the globe, we are broadening our Hannover-based facility's range of products and services."

Preparations for GE90-110B and -115B engine shop visits are in full swing at Hannover. The test cell, which has recently been expanded, is capable of accommodating the world's highest-thrust jet engine. The necessary certificates have been obtained from the European Air Safety Agency (EASA) and its U.S. counterpart, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The GE90-110B and -115B are the exclusive engines powering Boeing's 777-200LR and 777-300ER. To date, some 300 of the world's largest twinjets are in revenue service with airlines, and about another 300 are on order.

MTU Maintenance Hannover boasts decades of experience in the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of high-thrust engines. The company started to provide support for GE's CF6 family of engines back when the shop launched operations. This propulsion system powers the Airbus A300/A310/A330 family and is found also on other aircraft, such as the Boeing 747 and 767 and DC-10/MD-11.
