German Chancellor visits MTU

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visits MTU in Ludwigsfelde

Germany‘s Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg at the beginning of January 2025. The focus was on the site's positive development in recent years: the Ludwigsfelde portfolio currently comprises a total of ten engine and industrial gas turbine types with a total of 198 subtypes. In view of this diverse portfolio, the team at the Ludwigsfelde site has grown by over 30% since 2021 alone.

In his conversation with the Chancellor, MTU CEO Lars Wagner emphasized: “MTU is clearly on a growth path. We continue to invest in our sites in Germany as well as globally, in turn enabling us to offer our employees attractive and secure jobs now and in the future.”

“In Ludwigsfelde, we can clearly see the breadth of MTU's portfolio and its activities in both commercial and military aviation. This is an excellent and successful basis for further growth – and for us to make our contribution to more sustainable aviation and a secure Europe,” summarized Wagner. “At the same time, we also need political support. So that we can ensure the aviation industry remains a key and growth industry in Germany and Europe.”

Olaf Scholz is not only the German Chancellor, but also a directly elected member of the German Bundestag. The Ludwigsfelde site is located in his parliamentary constituency.

"As MTU, we are clearly on course for growth. That is why we will continue to invest in our sites in Germany. This will continue to offer our workforce attractive and secure jobs."

Lars Wagner, CEO MTU Aero Engines AG
